This weekend Bristol Motor Speedway will host the Scott’s Saturday Night Special featuring NASCAR legends and celebrities after the running of the NASCAR Nationwide race. The race will air on ESPN. This is a race featuring current & retired drivers, crew chiefs, NHRA pilots, football & basketball players & coaches and others. Scheduled to participate includes: Rusty Wallace, Cale Yarborough, Harry Gant, Larry Pearson, David Green, Jack Ingram, Ray Evernham, Junior Johnson, Terry Labonte, L.D. Ottinger, Phil Parsons, Jimmy Spencer, Sterling Marlin, Andy Petree, Brad Daugherty, former NFL playerr Brad Compton, Frank Beamer, Terry Bowden, David Akers, Bill Jordan, Riki Rachtman, Doug Herbert, Ron Capps and Greg Anderson. There is a purse totaling $100,000 with $25,000 being donated to the charity of choice of the winning team.
The race will be run first by the celebrity drivers running 15-lap or 10-minute heats to help determine the starting spots of the pro driver teammates, who then will run 35 laps. They will be racing Late Models most of which, to have paint schemes and decals like the driver’s original cars in their day.
